Group of artists, writers and poets outraged at European government.
Started doing public protests to convey their outrage. Dada began in Zurich, just after World War I ended, and became an international movement. . These writers and artists used any public forum they could find to (metaphorically) spit on nationalism, rationalism and materialism as they contributed to a senseless war.
They wanted to break the 'rules' of Modern theatre, and the idea of 'pure art'.
'Galileo' - Brecht shows his outrage of oppression.
'Galileo II' - Giving social recognition to the scientists who created the atomic bomb (embarrass them) In both cases above, Brecht is trying to provoke an emotional response from the audience - most often outrage, similar to the dadaists.
